FAQ’s
Is RVC abandoning the Murphy Campus?
Absolutely not! The RVC Leadership has decided to allow the Murphy Campus to launch out on its own as a new independent church. This process was initiated by Brian Lucas and the Murphy Leadership Team. Brian and his team believe this to be the best decision for them at this time. Because we desire unity and peace, the RVC Leadership Team (Elders and Pastors) has reluctantly agreed to Brian’s initiative.
Will RVC open another RVC campus in the Murphy area?
At this point, the Lord has not led us to begin a new RVC Murphy. We prefer to bless the new Murphy church transition by not sending a mixed or divisive message of two separate churches, especially at this time.
What if I don’t attend the Murphy campus but I’m in a Life Group that is primarily from the Murphy congregation? Or, what if I attend the Murphy Campus but I’m in a Life Group filled with non-Murphy attenders?
RVC and the new Murphy church will remain brothers and sisters in Christ so it is fine to stay in the Life Group where you are comfortable. You can also move to a new group if you prefer.
How will this change affect my financial giving?
Up until Dec 1 your financial gifts will go to the unified RVC budget, which helps support the current RVC Murphy ministry. After Dec 1 the new and independent Murphy church will be financially independent of RVC, and will be receiving their own offerings. Your 2024 RVC Giving Statement will still be mailed to you after the new year. For any questions on financial giving, please contact Michelle Rutherford at mrutherford@rivervalleycc.org
I support a Uganda orphan, how does this change impact my sponsorship?
We hope all of you will continue sponsoring your orphan(s) in the KIDS Uganda orphan sponsorship program. There are many people outside of RVC who sponsor a child and partner with RVC in this ministry.
I attend the Murphy campus, but I, and/or, my family is involved in other RVC ministries/programs. What should I do?
We welcome anyone from Murphy who wants to remain part of a particular RVC ministry. RVC has people from many other churches involved in various ministries and programs.
How will the new Murphy church change, or be different, from what it is currently?
We are certain the new Murphy church will continue in their strong Biblical and Gospel centered ministry. We believe they will have a positive impact for Jesus in the Murphy community. We bless them and pray for even better days of ministry fruitfulness ahead. For more specifics on this question, please contact Brian Lucas.
I have more questions, who should I contact?
